Do you have an old air conditioner lying around? It could be worth a quick $100 if you bring it to Central Hudson's trade in event this Saturday from 9am to 3pm.

Just in time for the warm weather to hit, the Energy company is hosting their annual “AC Turn-in Event” on Saturday, May 23. Those who stop by and drop off an old air conditioner for recycling will earn $50 for window units or $100 for wall units. The rebate is good towards the purchase of any EnergyStar-rated air conditioner from any store you wish.

Participants won't even need to get out of their cars. Just pull right up and they'll take care of the rest.

Air conditioners should be brought to the Poughkeepsie Galleria Sears store parking lot on Saturday. Central Hudson will remove your old air conditioner for you and haul it away for recycling. In exchange, you'll get your rebate. Participants won't even need to get out of their cars. Central Hudson says on their website to just pull right up at the AC Turn-In Event and they'll take care of the rest.

Guidelines from Central Hudson's website state that all participants must meet the following requirements:

  • You must be a Central Hudson residential electric customer.
  • You must surrender an old, working air conditioner to have it properly recycled.
  • You must have a valid photo I.D. when surrendering your old, working air conditioner.

If you have questions about the rebate program you can contact Central Hudson directly at (866) 706-3995 and press option 2.
