Let's face it, work is stressful. But there are certain jobs with higher percentages of people who drink or do drugs. We're going to take a look at the top 5 in each category.

The Washington Post, compiled the list using information from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (that's a mouthful). Miners are the biggest drinkers while folks who work in the hotel and restaurant business are more into drugs.

Here's a look at the top five jobs with workers who reportedly drink heavily:

  1. Mining
  2. Construction
  3. Hotels/restaurants
  4. Arts and entertainment
  5. Utilities

I suppose radio falls under the arts and entertainment category, but I don't think a few ICA's from Newburgh Brewing Company every once in a while counts as 'heavy drinking'. These lists are based off the percentage of the population that works in the field that reported to drinking 5 or more drinks on 5 or more occasions within the last 30 days.

And now a list of professions that are most likely to use drugs:

  1. Hotels/restaruants
  2. Arts and entertainment
  3. Management
  4. Information
  5. Construction
