Not sure where to get your corned beef and cabbage on St. Patrick's Day? We've got you covered with a list of the top five Irish restaurants in the Hudson Valley.

Whether it's a small Irish pub or a fancy restaurant, there are some great places in our area to enjoy traditional Irish fare and a pint of the dark stuff. According to Yelp, these are the five best reviewed places for Irish food:

5 - Mahoney's Irish Pub and Steakhouse in Poughkeepsie
It's no surprise that this Poughkeepsie mainstay makes the list. Mahoney's has become the meeting place for anyone heading down to the parade in New York City, since it sits just a few feet away from the Poughkeepsie train station. With traditional menu items like shepherd's pie, bangers & mash and corned beef & cabbage, you might even be tempted to skip the train and just spend the whole day at Mahoney's.

4 - Rambler's Rest in Poughquaig
Just setting foot into Rambler's Rest is like walking into a pub in Dublin. Mahogany walls, traditional Irish furniture and a generously sized three-sided bar sets the scene for a memorable Irish experience. And while you can get some great traditional food, Rambler's Rest also offers some menu items that put a unique Irish twist on some out-of-the-ordinary dishes like Celtic egg rolls.

3 - Mary Kelly's in Beacon
You may have seen the sign for Mary Kelly's while driving on 9D north from the Newburgh/Beacon bridge and have been tempted to pull in for a pint. Yelp reviewers seem to agree that stopping in is a wise choice. The Dublin Burger, topped with Irish cheddar and Irish rasher seems to be a favorite among repeat visitors. And if you're wondering, rasher is traditional Irish bacon... and it's delicious.

2 - Copperfield's in Montgomery
You wouldn't be faulted for thinking that you're actually in Ireland after spending a few hours at Copperfield's. Designed to look just like an Irish Victorian Kildare pub, every detail is completely authentic. Even the furniture was imported from Ireland. As for the food, the extensive Irish menu will transport you right to the Cliffs of Moher. You certainly can't go wrong with the Harps battered fish and chips or Kildare shepherds pie. And the 30 or more beers on tap will give you more than enough of a selection to toast your friends with.

1 - Shea O'Brien's in New Paltz
Topping the list of Irish restaurants, according to Yelp reviewers, is Shea O'Brien's in New Paltz. This no-nonsense Irish pub right in the Village of New Paltz has a loyal following. Whether it's because of the food, friendly service or a combination of both, Shea O'Brien's fans keep coming back for more. They serve all of the traditional Irish menu items not just on St. Patrick's Day, but every day throughout the year, including bangers & mash, shepherds pie, corned beef & cabbage, fish & chips and much more. Next time you're in New Paltz, raise a pint in congratulations to Shea O'Brien's for having the highest Yelp rating of all Irish restaurants in the Hudson Valley.
