Taking the easy way out of Christmas shopping and going the gift card route? A new survey shows which store they'd rather get one from.

Gift cards have grown into a multi-billion dollar business and are now the de-facto Christmas gift for people who you'd rather not have to spend precious time thinking about buying something for. Sure, a gift card is an easy way to cross someone off of your shopping list, but you're going to want to make sure to at least give them a card that they'll actually use.

Some surveys have shown that gift-card fatigue has set in, and that loved ones are less excited in 2015 about opening up an envelope to see a card for free donuts than they were just a few years ago. With that said, you're going to want to zero in on a card from a place that people really want to shop at. Or better yet, a card that can be used practically anywhere.

Cardhub.com has compiled a list of the 50 most popular gift cards for 2015. The ones on top are sure to please practically anyone on your shopping list, unless they're naughty... than a card to the local supermarket is probably what they deserve. Here's a look at the top 10:

  1. Visa gift card
  2. Amazon.com
  3. American Express gift card
  4. iTunes
  5. Walmart
  6. Target
  7. Starbucks
  8. Netflix
  9. Ebay
  10. Google Play

Other cards that cracked the top 20 include Fandango, Disney, Macy's, Home Depot, McDonald's and Best Buy.

As for the bottom 10, you may want to think twice before gifting cards from Red Lobster, J.C. Penney, Sears, Pizza Hut, Old Navy or Victoria's Secret. Those cards were the least popular, according to the survey. You can check out the entire list of popular gift cards on the Cardhub website.
