Those excited to check out the new Tilted Kilt restaurant in Poughkeepsie are going to have to wait a bit longer.

We reported in late September that the Scottish-themed restaurant was planning on opening their doors during the first week of November. Well, that deadline has come and gone and construction out front still doesn't seem to be near completion. So what's the deal?

A message on the Tilted Kilt's Facebook page seems to indicate that the restaurant would be opening after Thanksgiving. But now Adam Frazita, the General Manager for the Tilted Kilt, is telling the Poughkeepsie Journal that they're aiming for a soft opening right before Christmas.

Franzita indicated that issues left over from when Bugaboo Creek occupied the building seem to be setting back their progress. Perhaps it was that hole in the roof that caused this diner to leave Bugaboo Creek a couple of years ago after it started raining ceiling tile in my rainbow trout.

Whatever the issue is, the restaurant continues to audition local women interested in being “Kilt Girls.” The servers wear tight-fitting Tartan tops and skirts and are chosen for their, ahem, personality. In a recent online posting the Tilted Kilt put a call out for local “bombshells Next Door.” The job posting invited the “next Hollywood Hottie or a Country Cutie” to be a part of the “Best Looking Sports Pub You’ve Ever Seen.”
