The Metal Box is a weekly web series posted each Friday where we discuss all things hard rock and heavy metal: news, videos, interviews, live concerts and more.

This week, we have a review of a recent Overkill concert. The 80's thrash metal legends from NJ made a stop at Upstate Concert Hall in Clifton Park, NY on their latest tour. Watch video above.

Led by frontman Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth and bassist D.D. Verni, the current lineup also features guitarists Dave Linsk and Derek Tailer along with drummer Ron Lipnicki. Overkill formed out of New Jersey in 1980 and became one of the most successful East Coast thrash metal bands. The band was one of the early thrash metal bands to get signed to a major label and achieved success during the late 80’s along with other bands on the genre like Metallica, Anthrax, Exodus, Megadeth, Slayer, and Testament. They’ve recorded eighteen studio albums over the course of their career, with the latest being The Grinding Wheel released just last month. Classic albums form the band include Under the Influence and The Years of Decay.
