The Metal Box is a weekly web series posted each Friday where we be discuss all things hard rock and heavy metal: news, videos, interviews, live concerts and more.

This week, we talk about Deep Purple going into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016. The band formed in 1968 and are considered one of the pioneers of heavy metal along with band's like Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. The band has sold over 100 million records worldwide and were once listed in the Guiness Book of World Records as "The World's loudest band".

Deep Purple have gone through several lineup changes over the years and a hiatus over the course of eight years (1976-1984). The current lineup features singer Ian Gillan along with Steve Morse (guitar), Roger Glover (bass), Ian Paice (drums), and Don Airey (keyboards).
