Thursday, June 23: Rock Birthdays

Happy Birthday today (June 23) to Glenn Danzig. He's 61. Other rockers celebrating include Testament frontman Chuck Billy (54), ex W.A.S.P. guitarist Chris Holmes (58), and Warrant guitarist Joey Allen (52).

Glenn Danzig is best known as singer/founder of Misfits, Samhain, and Danzig who’s baritone voice and tenor vocal range has had him compared to Jim Morrison and Elvis Presley (Some call em Evil Elvis).  I'll never forget getting a chance to see Danzig perform live back on June 17, 1994 at the Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, NY. The Concert: Metallica with guests Danzig and Suicidal Tendencies will forever be in my memory as one of the greatest concerts I have ever attended.

It was announced on May 16, 2016 that Danzig, Jerry Only, and Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein will be reuniting as the Misfits for the first time in 33 years this Sept. The band will play two headlining shows at Riot Fest in Chicago and Denver.
