A somewhat strange and unique Christmas tradition returns to TV and computer screens everywhere. In addition to airing on channel 11, the faux fireplace known as The Yule Log is now streaming online.

PIX11.com is offering the looping 7 minutes of fireplace footage on their website for those who want to gather around the hearth that don't have a fireplace. Although it's been ripped off by other TV stations throughout the years, the channel 11 Yule Log is the original. 3 hours of endless fireplace footage first aired in the New York area back in 1966. It was later re-shot in 1970 after the original film wore out, and that is the footage that is still aired today.

As a child growing up in a home without a fireplace, we opened our gifts every Christmas morning around the glow of our television set. Some of the holiday music that plays during the Yule Log is pretty rare, and can only heard during the broadcast.

A 3-hour version of the Log will stream on Christmas Eve starting at 7pm, The Yule Log will also be broadcast on live TV by PIX11 on Christmas morning from 9am to 1pm. Then, another Christmas tradition will air; March of The Wooden Soldiers starring Laurel and Hardy.
