The Twelfth Annual Bike for Cancer Care Reaches Milestone

Mother Nature delivered a beautiful day on Sunday for the 12th annual Bike for Cancer Care at Dietz Stadium in Kingston. For the past 12 years, this event has raised funds to help cancer patients and their families through the Benedictine Health Foundation Rosemary Gruner Fund. They've helped more than 1400 families with $500 gift cards to purchase nutritious food at Hannaford Supermarkets and/or fuel at Stewart’s Shops to assist with transportation costs.

This year, a record number of cyclists registered for the Dan Barnes Memorial 50 Mile ride and they started the day with the biggest number ever. As the day went on, the total raised went up. Then the big announcement came, over the past 12 years, a million dollars has been raised for the fund, name for their Mom whom they lost to cancer. I'm not sure there was a dry eye there.

Their goal this year was to raise $144,000 and they are almost there. You can help by making an on-line donation here to help even more families here in the Hudson Valley.
