Talk about sweetening the deal.

The Jets are attempting to rebuild this offseason, and one potential big signing is from their hated division rivals, the New England Patriots. It also appears this would-be valuable addition to the Jets defense has quite the sweet tooth.

Dont'a Hightower is testing the free agent waters. Hightower met with the Jets organization Sunday. New York wasn't holding back their interest either.

According to Adam Schefter, who told ESPN

They sent his mother Jets merchandise, they brought him out to dinner last night and had cupcakes given to him on his birthday,. They had ‘Happy Birthday Dont’a Hightower’ on all the screens inside the Jets training facility.

Hightower would be a great addition to the Jets defense at linebacker. However, don't get your hopes up, Jets fans. Sources are saying Hightower will probably return to New England for a new deal that could be worth $10 million dollars.

Oh yeah, that whole winning a Super Bowl thing might also make Hightower want to stay put with the Patriots.

Oh well, least they tried. Did they save any of the cupcakes?
