Gas prices in New York are going up in spite of national average going down. The Daily Freeman says that the average retail gasoline price in the state of New York rose 2.7 cents per gallon last week, reaching $2.95 on Sunday. Sunday's average gas price in New York was 96 cents per gallon lower than the same day a year ago but 10.3 cents higher than just a month ago. The national average has increased 5.4 cents per gallon in the last month but still stands 88.9 cents lower than a year ago.
