The NY Daily News is reporting that Jets' Pro Bowl defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson will have to sit out the 2016 season opener for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy,

Richardson's suspension comes after last July's high-speed road race, where police say he was pulled over going 143 m.p.h. Richardson also resisted arrest, was carrying a loaded gun, and had a twelve year-old child in the car at the time.

Considering the charges, a one-game suspension seems like a slap on the wrist.

He's already been suspended before. He had to sit out the first four games in 2015 for violating the league's drug policy.

Richardson will be allowed to play in all preseason games and practices and can be placed back on the active roster on Monday, September 12.
