If you've got to go while on the go, it's good to know where the best restrooms are in the Hudson Valley.

People who drive for a living and spend their days on the road know exactly were the best public bathrooms are. Parents of small children are also pretty aware of the spots that are good to stop at when nature calls. But for most, it's not something they think about until the moment presents itself.

Well, now there's a way to find out where the best public restroom is no matter where you are. Charmin has been operating their "Sit or Squat" database for a while, and it's stocked with data about the best (and worst) public restrooms across the country.

Here in the Hudson Valley there are hundreds of bathrooms that are ranked, both good and bad. For example, in the City of Poughkeepsie the app has compiled some great reviews for St. Francis Hospital, the Wendy's and McDonald's on Main Street, Adams Fairacre Farms and Starbucks.  Bathrooms you may want to avoid, according to user reviews, include City Hall and the Dutchess County Office Building on Market Street. Both of those public restrooms get a "squat" rating.

In Newburgh, the Pizza Shop on the waterfront and the Newburgh Free Library both get stellar reviews. In Kingston, the Burger King on Broadway seems to be the place to go, as well as Boice Brothers Dairy.

Rest stops along Route 84 and the New York State Thruway seem to earn consistently bad reviews, but you probably knew that already.

Of course, some people have their own secret spots that they know they can rely on. A few years ago we polled the audience and they told us about some hidden gems including Kohl's in Newburgh, Red Lobster in Kingston and Cosimo's in Poughkeepsie. If you're willing to share, we'd love to know the cleanest and most comfortable restroom you've discovered here in the  Hudson Valley. Drop us a line on Facebook or in the comments section below.
