Will the Hudson Valley be saying goodbye to Bed Bath & Beyond's coupons?

There are four BB&B stores located throughout the Hudson Valley in Poughkeepsie, Middletown, Kingston and Newburgh. Local residents who are familiar with the store's famous 20% off coupons may be shocked to learn that they may no longer be showing up in the mail.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that BB&B is planning to change their business model to be more like Amazon.com. The move would move the 20% off savings from coupons to a subscription service. A $29 annual fee would entitle customers to receive 20% off on all items and free shipping from the company's online store.

The subscription service is being tested now with a small group of consumers who were able to sign up on a trial basis. New memberships are closed for now, but if the testing goes well it's likely that the program will be rolled out nation wide.

We will have to wait and how many consumers will be interested in signing up, especially if they already have Amazon Prime. But the bigger question is, what do we do with those 500 coupons sitting in our junk drawer?
