We love being outraged as much as the next Internet user, but this story has us scratching our heads.  We need your help figuring out why Pizza Hut is doing damage control over their latest promotion.  The pizza chain is in hot water for their "free small animal" deal.

An Australian Pizza Hut location was giving away free gift certificates to a local pet store for a small pet; like a gerbil, hamster or fish, with the purchase of 10 pizzas.  Customers were given a punch card and after they bought 10 large pizzas, they were able to head to the pet store and bring home a new friend.  According to ABC Australia, the backlash from the community was so great that they had to issue an official apology.  One customers was quoted as saying:

Please stop promoting your pizza for a small animal deal! It's so wrong on so many reasons!

Uh... ok.  But would you be kind enough to name just one of those reason for us?  Seriously, we really want to know why this is so outrageous.  You see, Robyn and I love animals and we also love getting angry at big companies.  This seems like the perfect protest for us to get behind, but we are boggled as to why this is so controversial.  Seriously... can you tell us?

We thought that maybe this was bad because some people misunderstood and thought that the animals were supposed to be consumed like the pizzas?  Or maybe they are upset because they think the animals are being stored in the actual restaurant?  Maybe they are upset because they think it's for puppies or cats (which it's not).  We really don't know.

The way we see it is that the pizza store is giving away a certificate so families can go adopt a small animal that would otherwise sit in a pet store.  Sounds like a win-win... but what do we know?  Please, someone out there... tell us why we should be angry about this!
