A woman's health is being monitored after being bitten by a black widow spider that was hiding in a bag of grapes.

The NY Daily News reports that a 21-year-old woman was eating a bag of grapes she purchased at a local supermarket when the spider crawled out of the bag and climbed up her arm. Before she knew it, the spider had bit her.

The incident happened near Burlington, Vermont after a shopping trip to a local Shaw's grocery store.

Quick-thinking family members trapped the spider and brought it along with the woman to the emergency room. Doctors gave the unlucky shopper shots and released her from the hospital. The woman will still have to be monitored by health professionals for a few months.

The grocery store released the following statement

The health and safety of products we sell, and our customers, is our first concern... We have been closely monitoring the situation and have been in contact with the family.

Shaw's says that they have inspected their produce and have contacted their suppliers to make sure they are on the lookout for more spiders.
