Authorities are trying to find answers why a SUNY New Paltz associate art professor drove off the road, on the westbound Arterial, Monday afternoon. Police say 59 year old Aleánna Luethi-Garrecht of the Town of Lloyd drove her Toyota SUV off the road, and crashed into a tree. Dr. Dennis Chute of the Dutchess County Medical Examiner said the cause of her death was blunt-impact injuries. Detective Lt. Matthew Clark said that drugs and alcohol did not play a role in the crash, and that it was still too early to determine if unsafe speed played a role in the crash.

Anyone who witnessed the crash, or who has pertinent information, is asked to call city police at 845-451-7577.
