Today (Aug. 23) we remember drummer Keith Moon of the Who on what would have been his 69th birthday. Moon was known for his unique style and eccentric, self-destructive behavior but his drumming has been praised by critics and musicians to this day. He died on Sept. 7, 1978 at the age of 32. Moon was inducted into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 1982 and was voted second greatest drummer of all time in a readers poll by Rolling Stone magazine in 2011.

The Who sold over 100 million records worldwide and are considered one of the most influential rock bands of all time.

The Who were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.
