The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol Unit is offering a one-day New York State Boater's Safety Course this month.

The course will be held Saturday, June, 30, 2018 from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm at the White Lake Fire Department at 1596 State Route 17B White Lake, NY 12786.

You must be at least 10-years of age to attend and must pass a written test at the end of the session.

Anyone born after May, 1, 1996, is now required to pass an approved course in  boater education in order to operate a motorboat in New York State.

All operators of personal watercraft (jet skis/wave runners) must possess the boater safety certificate and be at least 14 years old.

Seating for the class is limited and pre-registration is required.  There is no charge for the course. New York State charges a fee of $10 for the boater's certificate which does not expire.

The fee is waived if the student is less than 18 years old. To sign up for the class call the Sheriff's Patrol at 794-7100, press option 1, and speak with the deputy on the desk.
