Sting finally confirmed the legend surrounding the Police's poorly attended first concert at The Chance in Poughkeepsie.

Sitting next to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, Sting talked about his least-attended concert of all time. It happened at The Chance in Poughkeepsie back in October of 1978. According to Sting, the show was so poorly attended that there were "tumbleweeds" in the alleyway next to The Chance.

Sting explained that there were three members of The Police on stage and only three people in the audience. Here at WPDH we've heard from at least a dozen people who've claimed to be at the show, so now thanks to Sting we know that most of them are liars. Sting also noted that two of the people in the audience that night were local DJs who, after the show, started to play their record on the radio. So now we know that only five of our current and former coworkers are liars.

As the show began Sting says he invited the three people, who were scattered throughout the Chance, to come up front and center. He introduced them to each other and the Police proceeded with the concert.  The rest is Hudson Valley history.

Here's Sting telling the rest of the story:

This isn't the first time Jimmy Fallon has discussed the Hudson Valley as host of the Tonight Show. Last year he and Louis C.K. reminisced about their days working the comedy club circuit at Bananas in Poughkeepsie.
