Late last year, three-fourths of the surviving original members of Ratt announced reunion plans and it looks like it's going to result in more than live shows. In a new interview, frontman Stephen Pearcy said that he and guitarist Warren DeMartini have been writing together.

"Warren and I already demoing up some Ratt music for, you know, what's going on this year," Pearcy told That Drummer Guy, "so who knows? Maybe we'll try to get a record started for Ratt. ... It's been, like, what, six years ... or something, seven years, since Infestation? ... I don't know how long it's been. It took 10 years to do that. But that's a whole another animal in itself."

You can hear the interview above, which features Pearcy telling Josh Rundquist a lot about his new solo album, Smash. The record is coming out Jan. 27 and you can pre-order it at Amazon.

Back in November, Pearcy, DeMartini and bassist Juan Croucier claimed they took control of the rights to the name Ratt from drummer Bobby Blotzer. A day later, they revealed that they will be playing at the M3 Rock Festival in Columbia, Md., in late April. But although the three said that the agreement legally prevents Blotzer from using the band's name without "former member of" in front of it, Blotzer's attorney said that the judge hasn't fully ruled on the case yet. Meanwhile, a Dec. 29 concert by Blotzer's version of Ratt at the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort in Mt. Pleasant, Mich., was canceled after the venue received a cease-and-desist letter from the other three.
