A cold front will be approaching the Hudson Valley today and ahead of that we could see some severe weather.

According to the National Weather Service, a Special Weather Statement has been issued for our area. This statement is in effect until 3 pm. We could see strong to severe scattered Thunderstorms within the next few hours.

These storms will develop quickly late this morning into early afternoon ahead of the cold front and they could pack a wallop. Some of these thunderstorms, especially from the Hudson Valley eastward into Western New England, could potentially become severe with large hail, one inch in diameter or greater, and damaging wind gusts up to 58 MPH.

This threat of severe weather should diminish by late this afternoon and early evening. Hopefully, this system will have moved through before your evening commute.

We will continue to monitor weather conditions throughout the day, giving updates as needed.
