After a few days of spring-like weather, crazy wind gusts that knocked trees down, not to mention garbage cans and any lawn furniture outside, we now have some snow to contend with. While, we aren't expected to get much in the way of accumulation, we can expect snow squalls in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service, a Special Weather Statement has been issued for Ulster, Dutchess, Columbia, Greene counties, among others for this afternoon.

What can you expect with this system?  Winds gusting to 40 MPH and rapid snowfall. Combined, these will impact visibility, in the midst of the squall, visibility may drop to less than a quarter of a mile.

Please be careful if you are driving through these squall, conditions change very quickly and the roads will become slippery. As mentioned above, we aren't expected to get much accumulation with these, but they can be dangerous to drive through. Slow down and, if you can do so safely, pull off until it passes.
