I have actually been meaning to write about Sparrow's Nest for quite a while.  Back in the summer, I was attending an event at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds, and Sparrow's Nest was there selling cupcakes. Of course I wanted a cupcake, and I got talking to the volunteers about this great charity.

Sparrow’s Nest of the Hudson Valley provides two meals, once a week, to the families of caregivers diagnosed with cancer. Caregivers diagnosed with any cancer that requires chemo, radiation or surgery qualify. It was created in 2012, and has fed over 1000 people since it began. According to founder Krista Jones, Sparrow's Nest is about providing homemade dinners to families who have no time to cook and giving recipients precious time to focus on their families. It is about giving these families some normalcy, when nothing seems normal at all.

All food is prepared by a team of volunteers in their Health Department approved kitchen in Hopewell Junction, NY.  If you would like to learn more about Sparrow's Nest, make a donation, or volunteer, visit their website at http://sparrowsnestcharity.org/about-sparrows-nest/
