So it appears that New York ranked as one happiest states. Happiness comes from a combination of different factors. You can influence it by trying to approach situations positively, or by doing things you enjoy and spending time with people you love.

According to Wallethub, happiness is not driven by money. Makes sense, there's plenty of people who are financially set, and they're absolutely miserable people.

Wallethub drew upon the findings of “happiness” research to determine which environmental factors are linked to a person’s overall well-being and satisfaction with life.

Previous studies have found that good economic, physical, emotional, and social health are key to a well-balanced and fulfilled life. To determine where Americans exhibit the best combination of these factors, they examined the 50 states across 31 key metrics ranging from depression rate to sports participation rate to income growth.

New York was ranked as the 14th happiest state. Here's the breakdown

  • 21st - # of Work Hours
  • 18th - Separation and Divorce Rate
  • 17th - Income Growth
  • 23rd - Safety
