Small Plane Crashes on Golf Course in Upstate NY Town
A small plane crashed near the second hole of the Poolsbrook Golf Course in Kirkville on Monday. Authorities say the pilot was hospitalized after the crash, which happened at about 7:15 pm Monday evening.
Manlius police say 52-year-old Mark Penell of Camillus was attempting a touch-and-go landing. Newsday reports that the amateur-built, single-engine plane slid on wet grass during takeoff and banked sharply before crashing on the golf course.
Penell climbed out of the plane on his own and was taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.The FAA is investigating the crash.
