Hate crimes aren't always a case or race, religion, or sexual preference. The elderly are also a target. According to the Albany County District Attorney's Office, six New York residents from the Capitol District conspired to overcharge several victims more than $3,000 each under the pretense of performing work. The DA says the victims were targeted because of their age.

CBS Albany reports that 58 year-old Henry Hicks and 37 year-old John Waterson have both pleaded guilty to their roles in the alleged crimes. Hicks faces 9 to 18 years behind bars. Waterson faces 3 1/2 to 7 years in prison. 49 year-old Frank Chrysler, 60 year-old John Risto, 27 year-old Jessica Paradiso, and 57 year-old  Susan Barr have also been arraigned in connection to the case. Authorities say they face a range of charges from conspiracy to grand larceny.
