Well, this is scary.

The Times Union is reporting that a ten to fifteen foot deep sinkhole claimed an SUV in Albany Tuesday morning.

The sinkhole was caused by a pipe burst.

Commissioner of the water department, Joseph Coffey Jr., said that an 85-year-old blow-off valve on a water transmission main failed. Pressurized water then filled the sewer, which cleared out the ground below the street.

The hole had grown to about 15-by-30 feet by early Tuesday afternoon.
