The brief break of mild weather we enjoyed after New Year's won't last.

Snow showers will prevail across the Mid-Hudson region Thursday night into Friday morning. Meteorologists say to expect only about a dusting to maybe an inch of snow by Friday.

Right now, forecasters are saying the heavier snow will stay to the south. Southern Westchester County and parts of northeastern New Jersey are under a Winter Weather Advisory.

Bu snow isn't really the story. It's the cold. How cold?

Temperatures by Saturday will only reach about 30 degrees across the area, with wind chills in the lower 20s. Lows Saturday night will be in the mid teens. Sunday will be the most brutal as highs will be in the low- to mid-20s (with wind chills as low as 10 degrees).

Lows Sunday night will be down to about 8 or 9 degrees. Of yeah, and the wind chills? Try zero.

But yeah, it's winter in the state of New York, so you know the drill by now. Bundle up and be safe!
