Dangerous cold weather is on the way later this week.

The first day of winter isn't until December 21, but it's going to feel like the end of January as temperatures are expected to drop near zero by Thursday night into Friday morning.

Highs Thursday are only going to be in the 20s, but gusty winds will make the wind chill feel like it's near zero.

The winds will continue to howl Thursday night, with lows near zero and wind chills ranging from -10 to -25 below zero.

Yikes.

The brutal cold will stick around through Friday with a slight warming trend by the weekend. Temps should be climbing back into the 30s by then, which is more normal for this time of year.

Still, brace yourselves because we'll have to endure a couple of brutal days ahead.
