Local law enforcement is investigating a sexting scandal at yet another Hudson Valley school.

Last month, Marlboro Middle School was involved in a sexting incident when a number of girls allegedly sent out sexually explicit photos of themselves to their friends. Now, it looks like Valley Central High School in Montgomery is dealing with a similar problem.

The Time Herald Record reports that school officials found out last week that some students were exchanging sexually explicit photos of each other. According to superintendent Richard Hooley, the male and female students are all underage and were engaged in sending nude and partially nude pictures.

Some parents have claimed that as many as 30 students were suspended over the sexting incidents, but that number was not immediately confirmed by Hooley. Arnold Amthor, the police chief in the Town of Montgomery, says he will be releasing more information this week.

The district is expected to step up education on the dangers of sexting and plan to bring in an expert to talk to both parents and students.

Other cases of underage sexting have been prosecuted by district attorneys across the country and have even brought charges of child pornography. The Times Herald Record notes that in 2011 a New York Law was passed, giving teens the option to complete an eight-hour education course in exchange for having sexting charges dropped.
