The Hudson Valley and most of the Tri-State area could experience severe thunderstorms Sunday afternoon and evening.

Forecasters say a line of storms will move in from the west by later Sunday afternoon, bringing strong winds and potential flooding.

Heavy rain could cause flooding in urban, low lying, and poor drainage areas. The National Weather Service says flash flooding is also possible.

If you're traveling south, be on the lookout. The NWS says the area with the greatest risk for severe weather will be New Jersey and on down to the Mid-Atlantic, where tornadoes could be possible.

Heavy thunderstorms with torrential rainfall have already popped up in parts of New York state, and Connecticut.
