A recent Marist College graduate has a legitimate chance to begin the season as a member of an NFL squad. This after Terrance Fede became the first person from the school to be drafted in 2014.

Jason Myers is a 2012 graduate of Marist College in Poughkeepsie, his road to becoming a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars is an interesting one. According to The Florida Times Union, Myers was out of football entirely in 2013, before kicking in the arena league for the 2014 season.

A trade of veteran kicker Josh Scobee leaves him as the only kicker on the roster with the start of the season just around the corner. Jaguars General manager Dave Caldwell had this to say about Myers dedication to his craft.

I have to give Jason credit, he dedicated himself to becoming an NFL kicker. He got really good coaching post-college. He obviously has the leg talent to do it and turned himself into an NFL kicker.

Jacksonville's season opens Sunday 9/13 against Carolina, and all signs point to two Marist graduates playing in the NFL for 2015. Click here to view comments made about Myers by head coach Gus Bradley (1:20-3:20).
