Scott Weiland Wants ‘Easy Money’ Velvet Revolver Reunion

Former Velvet Revolver vocalist Scott Weiland is looking to reunite with his acclaimed band but not for the reasons you might expect or necessarily want to hear.

“Velvet Revolver, there is no problem,” Weiland told Canadian newspaper La Presse. “I even called the guys to propose the idea of doing some shows together in a few months. We are on good terms, but I do not want to be a member of Velvet Revolver full-time. If possible, I would like to only play at festivals. You know, to make easy money.”

However, Weiland acknowledged that getting the members of Velvet Revolver back together might not be as easy as it may seem. The reason? None of his former band mates need the funds as badly as he does.

“Dave [Kushner, guitarist] made music for TV,” he continued. “He made the theme of the series ‘Sons of Anarchy‘. Duff [McKagan, bass] has a lot of money in the stock market. As for Slash, he put aside the money he did in the days of Guns N’ Roses. Finally, Matt [Sorum, drummer] has embarked on a package of stuff.”

A few weeks ago, Duff McKagan mused (but then quickly shot down) the idea of taking over vocal duties for Velvet Revolver, which has been inactive since Weiland’s dismissal in 2008. Scott Weiland is currently on tour with his new band the Wildabouts.
