If you have ever had a problem with Time Warner Cable, today you can have some comfort in knowing that they are going away. Sort of.

A lot of us Hudson Valley residents have Time Warner as our cable provider. Time Warner was just bought by Charter Communications Inc. according to CNN.

Charter is the second largest home Internet provider and third largest video provider in the U.S. and over the next year and a half they will start to phase out the Time Warner Cable name in favor of its own name, Spectrum.

This could be really good news for subscribers as Charter says it will use the size of their company to negotiate better deals with channel owners which should lead to lower cable prices for us.

Some of the other changes we can expect include boosting Internet speeds and removing caps on how much data customers can use.
