Saturday, August 22: Rock n Roll Birthdays

Happy Birthday today (Aug. 22) to guitarist Vernon Reid of Living Colour. He's 57. Also celebrating today is former Ratt bassist Juan Croucier (56) and we remember Layne Staley of Alice In Chains who would have been 48 years old today.

Reid was named #66 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Guitarist's of All Time in 2004. Living Colout first hit it big in 1988 with their debut album Vivid. The band's biggest hit, 'The Cult of Personality' earned the band a grammy in 1990 for best hard rock performance. They split up in 1995 but eventually reunited in 2000.

A brand new album from Living Coulor album called Shade is due out sometime in 2015.
