Moscow - A Russian court has sent three young women for a short stay in jail for twerking near a World War II memorial.

Russia celebrates the 70th anniversary of the Allies’ victory in World War II next month, an emotionally charged holiday.

The sentencing of a 19-year-old woman to 15 days in jail and two women in their 20s to 10 days comes after prosecutors looked into a video showing a group of women twerking next to the memorial, as reported by the NY Post.

There were a total of five women who were charged with “hooliganism”, but two of the women were spared jail time because of their poor health. One of the girls is underage, and her parents are having charges pressed against them for, "the failure to encourage the physical, intellectual, physiological, spiritual and moral development of a child."
