Rush Considering Tour for 2015

So much for the idea of Rush taking some time off. The band revealed today that they have begun discussing a massive “41st anniversary” tour for next year.

Nothing has been worked out yet, but as Alex Lifeson told Rolling Stone, it kind of happened by accident. “The three of us just had a meeting,” he said. “We said, ‘Let’s not talk about anything band-wise for the next year. Let’s separate ourselves and come back rejuvenated.’ Unfortunately, the other people at that meeting didn’t hear what we were talking about, so there are already plans being made for spring of 2015. It’s going to be a 41st anniversary tour, or whatever they’re going to call it.”

Their last tour featured a setlist centered around their new album, ‘Clockwork Angels’ and their ’80s works. But without having a to promote a new record, they are freed up to explore some of the more obscure corners of their catalog, which should excite longtime fans.

“We want to try and play different material this time,” Lifeson continued. “I’ve always wanted to do some rarer Rush material, and this should be a good opportunity to do that.”

Last November, Lifeson said that Rush had agreed to not discuss band business until the end of this coming summer, which would signify a year after the end of the ‘Clockwork Angels’ tour. The purpose, they said, was to give them some time apart after a busy decade so that they could come back refreshed and full of ideas.
