An overnight fire on a farm in Red Hook, New York has taken the life of 100 goats. The Poughkeepsie Journal reports a neighbor notified the fire department of the blaze at 12:50am Friday.

The Journal adds, Red Hook Fire Department was assisted by nearly 40 members of other local fire departments and were still there attempting to extinguish the fire at 6am.

Due to the ongoing freezing temperatures, and the lack of water supply near the barn, water had to be trucked in which led to hose lines freezing.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown and is under investigation. Thankfully, no people were hurt during the incident, but it's a terrible loss of animal life.
