Keep those car doors locked.

The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department issued an alert Wednesday afternoon warning residents of a pattern of car thefts in the area. The parts of town affected by the thefts include: Henmond Boulevard, Marshall Road, Manchester Road, Wing Road, James Street, Ridge Road, Townsend Avenue and the Lutheran Care Center.

"The common thread in these crimes is that the vehicles were left unlocked," the police alert issued on the department's Nixle.com channel stated.

At the Quite Cove Park on the Hudson River, near the Town of Hyde Park border, the windows of several cars were smashed and valuables inside were stolen. These break-ins occurred primarily between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
