Many parts of the Hudson Valley were blanketed with snow this morning, but if you want to make a snowman, you better act quickly.

Forecasters are calling for precipitation to transition into rain showers before the afternoon, so all of that snow will quickly be turning to mush.

Snowman making conditions were perfect this morning, however, with most grassy surfaces covered in thick, icy snow. In snow like this, one small snowball rolled through the yard can quickly become a huge snowman body. The compact, icy snow also is perfect for securing twigs and carrots to make the perfect snowman expression.

One thing to watch out for, however, is the abundance of leaves still hiding under all of that snow. Snowman purists may want to spend time plucking those leaves out of their finished product, while others may want to even add more to give their snowman that camouflage hunting look.

If you and your family raced outside this morning to make your first snowman of the season, we'd love to see your finished product. Please share your snowman pictures on our Facebook page or in the comments section below.
