A proposed plan would merge City of Poughkeepsie bus service with Dutchess County's LOOP service. The plan put forth by Poughkeepsie Mayor has good intentions, but what will it mean for the community?

Hudson Valley News Network reports the plan is meant to save money at a time when the City of Poughkeepsie is facing major financial challenges. A rally took place Monday in support of Poughkeepsie's bus service. There is some concern if the service merge, jobs will be lost and quality of service would be affected.

Many residents rely on the Poughkeepsie's local service as a means to get around the city. That includes students who use the bus to get to and from school.

A public meeting is scheduled for this Saturday November 19th at 10am at the Family Partnership Center in Poughkeepsie. The final decision on Mayor Rollison's plan lies with City of Poughkeepsie Common Council.
