A Poughkeepsie man was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a child on a number of occasions in 2014.

Jose Diaz, 29, of Poughkeepsie was charged with predatory sexual assault in Wappinger and 1st-degree sexual abuse in Poughkeepsie, both felonies.

The arrest resulted from a joint investigation from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and Dutchess County Child Advocacy Center. The investigation concluded that Diaz allegedly sexually assaulting a female victim under the age of 13 over the course of several months in 2014.

No other details about the case or the victim are being released at this time due to the sensitive nature of the incident.

Diaz was arraigned at the Town of Wappinger Court and was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.

The investigation is continuing and further charges are possible.
