Be on the look out if you're around the Wallkill River.

The Times Herald says that environmentalist have warned the public that there's a toxic algae bloom in the Wallkill River in the vicinity of New Paltz.

So, basically, it's simple. Don't go in the water around that area.

The warning was issued Thursday by several groups, including the Wallkill River Alliance Watershed, Riverkeep, and biologists from SUNY Rockland and SUNY Ulster.

The Times Herald says the bloom has been spotted from Gardiner to Rifton.

The Wallkill River Alliance Watershed also has a Harmful Algae Bloom Monitoring Program form you can fill out.

This stuff is really bad for people, pets, and livestock.

Man, good thing I don't swim in rivers.
