When Shea O'Brien's in New Paltz closed its doors many months ago, few expected it to return. But that's exactly what's happening this weekend. New Paltz Times reports the bar and restaurant is back with only minor changes. What you will see are some new faces running the show.

Shea O'Brien's is owned by the Mahoney brothers. Former manager Garvan McCloskey has moved on and opened his own place, Garvan's near the Golf Course on Hugenont St. Owen, who you may recognize as a former bartender at Mahoney's in Poughkeepsie will be taking an active role in managing front and back of house. He along with brothers Mickey and Timmy, with help from niece Kelly, will be running the show.

The decision to keep the name has family connections. O'Brien is their mothers maiden name while they attribute Shea to Joe Shea, a former Mahoney's manager who has since passed on. They had a soft opening in July but the official grand opening celebration is 8/12 at 6pm. There will be live Irish music and complimentary hors d'oeuvres.

Welcome back Shea O'Brien's!
