A popular local diner frequented by local residents and college students alike has been sold to new owners. The Palace Diner, a 24 hour eatery in Poughkeepsie will see some changes to its appearance, but the name, menu and staff will remain the same as reported by the Poughkeepsie Journal.

The previous owners, the Vanikiotis Group plan to focus on their other businesses in the area. They also own the Daily Planet in LaGrangeville, Table Talk Diner in Poughkeepsie and the Red Line Diner in Fishkill.

The Journal reports the diner was never listed for sale, a New Jersey based man by the name of Michael Pagonas expressed interested and made an offer they couldn't refuse. While much will stay the same, the plan is to update the look and feel of the place.

One of the first restaurants I went to eat when I moved to Poughkeepsie from Hartford in the 90's was The Palace. I'm thankful I'll still be able to get my picnic basket number two whenever the mood strikes me.
