A man was allegedly traveling in the wrong direction on Route 17 under the influence, and nearly crashes into police officers. 

In the early morning hours Saturday, a Ramapo Police Officer was traveling south on Route 17 in Sloatsburg. This section of the highway is divided by a cement wall separating the north and southbound lanes.

The officer observed another vehicle approaching him head on. The vehicle was traveling in the wrong direction on the highway.

The officer was able to avoid the oncoming car and apprehend the violator quickly.

The driver, Sergio Rodriquez, 22, of Mine Hill, NJ was arrested and charged with DWI. He was processed and was pending arraignment at the time of this press release.

Thanks to the officer's response to this "wrong way driver", stopping them before anyone was hurt.
