An Ulster County woman is accused of biting a woman and later becoming combative with police.

Members of the Ulster County Sheriff's Office arrested 32-year-old Joanne M. Ortiz of Ellenville and charges of third-degree assault and second-degree obstructing governmental administration, both misdemeanors.

On Wednesday around 9:15 p.m., police responded to a 911 report of a dispute at a home in the Village of Ellenville. Deputies arrived on scene and determined that a physical dispute occurred between Ortiz and the victim. A Further investigation revealed that Ortiz struck and bit the victim, causing an injury, police say.

While being taken in to custody, Ortiz is accused of becoming combative with police and refused to walk to the patrol vehicle.
