A wanted Hudson Valley man is accused of assaulting a pair of officers and damaging a police car.

On Thursday around 11:15 a.m. deputies from the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office headed to the Budget 19 in the Town of Ulster to check on a group of wanted people who were believed to be staying at the motel.

Colin Crawford-Short, 23, and 39-year-old Tara Doolitte, both of Kingston, were found in one of the rooms and were allegedly in possession of drug paraphernalia.

After being placed into custody, Crawford-Short became very combative and belligerent with the arresting officers, police say. Crawford is accused of attempting to kick out a window of a police car, which damaged the hood.

While being processed, Crawford-Short physically assaulted two members of the Ulster County Sheriff's Office, officials say. One of the deputies was treated at Health Alliance for minor eye injury.

Crawford-Short was charged with two-counts of assault, disorderly conduct, criminal possession of a controlled substance, possession of a hypodermic instrument and criminal mischief. Doolittle was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Crawford-Short was remanded to the Ulster County Jail on $50,000 bail. Doolittle was issued an appearance ticket and released to return to the Town of Ulster Court at a later date.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the New York State Police and the Town of Ulster Police.
